It’s important to stay informed to the latest fraudulent trends, here are the top five that are most common in Southern Arizona according to the Attorney General.

1. Work-At-Home jobs and business “opportunity” scams.

2. Certified check fraud (mystery shoppers, unsolicited communication notifying of winning a prize, overpayment for selling an item).

3. Internet fraud: pop-up ads/spam emails/phishing.

4. Identity Theft: stolen mail, personal identifiable information stolen, external data breach, social engineers obtaining information from social media.

5. Prize notification/international lottery scams: asking victim to pay taxes up front, victim never entered a lottery or contest.
