Travel Plans This Summer?
Here are a few tips that can help!
When it comes to traveling, it’s wise to plan ahead. Consider ways to use your funds most effectively and be prepared for the unexpected.
This Ramsey article HERE gives you some ideas such as packing efficiently, travel hacks that save you money and even some favorite travel apps.
They also include an app that helps you with your packing list called PackPoint. Check out their website www.packpnt.com as well as a Ramsey Ultimate Travel Checklist found HERE.
I have my own very extensive checklist, and I love it. I add to it as time goes on, and it helps us save money by not buying small things that we can bring along, especially on road trips.
Most things are common sense yet easy to forget if you don’t have a list.
We like to visit national parks. I like to read the travel tips on the park website. We like to rent a car and one thing I learned is not all rental cars come with a spare tire! It’s true. So that is one thing we check when we pick up our car. And be aware of areas that will have no cell or location services. It’s a good idea to make sure a friend or family member has a copy of your itinerary.
I also check the cancellation dates and fees for all hotels and keep confirmations and contact info handy. And if you decide to stay somewhere unique, like a national park lodge, make reservations early! When an unexpected hospital stay interrupted our trip, I was able to call and cancel all but one night with no fees incurred. And we were able to enjoy the last few days of our trip with no issues.
We also bring a travel water filter. Some hotels or lodges have them now, but many don’t. This allows us to fill up our water bottles each night with filtered water.
And here’s one more tip. Check with your area police department. They may have a service that checks up on your home if you will be out of town for several days.
My final suggestion is to prepare the best you can, then take off and leave your worries behind!
There’s nothing more exciting than to find new places for exploration and adventure!
