Staff Picks for Fun, Fresh Activities to make the most of your Tucson Summer!
Summer in Tucson doesn’t have to mean doing the same old thing—or hiding out until fall. I asked a few familiar faces from our team to share their favorite ways to enjoy the season, whether it’s finding a fun local spot, starting a project at home, or simply making the most of the cooler mornings and evenings.
The ideas are simple—just 8 to 10 easy ways to switch things up, stay cool, and maybe try something you haven’t done before. Whether you’re looking for a quick escape, a new hobby, or just a reason to get out (or stay in!) this summer, we hope one of these sparks your interest.
Here’s what some of our TFCU staff recommend:
- “One of my favorite things to do as a kid was a water balloon fight” -Bailey
- Amanda suggested the “Bunch O Balloons” for easy fill!
- I did a little checking and found Bunch O Balloons by Suru on Amazon (rapid-filling self-sealing water balloons) as well as SOPPYCID Reusable Magnetic Water Balloons (silicone).
- Carly had three great suggestions:
- Apple Annies Orchard: Home – Apple Annie’s Orchard
- “Kids Bowl Free”: com: Kids Bowl Free All Summer Long!
- Free/Cheap Summer Movies in Tucson 2025: Free/Cheap Summer Movies in Tucson 2025 | TucsonTopia
- Jayne recommends: Night hiking, especially on a full moon, at Sabino Canyon or Mt Lemmon
- Aryn suggested Loft Kids Fest: Loft Kids Fest – The Loft Cinema
- Daisy recommends Funtasticks and Cactus Springs with late summer hours: Funtasticks Family Fun Park | Hours and Directions
- I have a few less kid friendly ideas that will help you feel accomplished this summer:
- Clean up your phone photos: delete unnecessary pics and consider printing out a few of your favorites to post on the fridge and bring a smile
- Go through your food pantry and toss everything that’s expired
- And if you find some items you need to get used up, try this: ask ChatGPT for a recipe based on foods you have on hand. You can get the recipe and cooking instructions!
- You may also consider cleaning up the stack of paperwork to file. Then go through old documents and statements and shred those you don’t need to keep. This one’s on my list!
As a Personal Financial Coach, I know it’s easy to overspend during different seasons of life when our routine changes, or, here in the desert, the heat may zap our energy and entice us to be less budget friendly with our activities. Planning and budgeting the summer funds can help!
And it’s never a bad time to do a financial review. If you’d like to meet and talk about ways you can create a money plan and be prepared for future financial needs, I can help! When you are ready, click HERE to schedule your personal financial coaching session.
