For The Security Of Our Members

If you receive a suspicious phone call, email, or text message

  • Never give out personal information unless YOU initiated the call and know who you are speaking to.
  • We will never contact you to ask you for a PIN, social security number, password, or to activate a credit card.

Memorize your User Name and Password

  • Your Online Banking User Name and Password authenticate you when you start a TFCU Online Banking session. You should memorize your Password and never write it down anywhere or reveal it to anyone.

Create a STRONG password

  • Use at least seven characters. The longer the password, the better.
  • Include upper and lower case letters and numbers.
  • Use at least four different characters (no repeats).
  • Make sure it is not obvious or easily guessed.

Change your password regularly

  • You can easily change your Online Banking password by going to User Preferences, then Change Password.

If you receive a suspicious email

Learn more about identity theft prevention

  • Visit the Federal Trade Commission website at www.ftc.gov.

Monitor your credit report

  • You should request a free copy of your credit report annually at www.annualcreditreport.com and review it for suspicious charges or accounts you did not open.
  • Identity thieves usually start with small amounts, to see if you’ll notice. Notify us immediately if you discover unauthorized charges.

Think before you click

  • Avoid clicking on hyperlinks in emails urging you to “update your information” or “activate your credit card “. Type the web address yourself from your statements, or from your saved favorites.
  • We will NEVER ask you to enter in personal information like logins and passwords via hyperlink in an email. If in doubt, call us at (520) 795-8520 and verify the request.

Identity thieves love paper

  • Never throw away ATM receipts, credit statements, credit cards, or bank statements in a usable form. Always use a shredder.
  • Sign up for online statements and avoid paper altogether. Contrary to what you believe, the majority of identity theft occurs from paper and mail theft.
  • Placing your bills in a mailbox with the flag up is advertising to identity thieves that your information is there for the taking. Always use a locked mailbox.
