TUCSON FEDERAL CREDIT UNION OPEN ITS FIRST MULTICULTURAL EMPOWERMENT CENTER - Tucson Federal Credit Union

A unique alternative for financial education and employment resources in the community

Tucson, Arizona, November 15, 2021, Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) announced it will open its first Multicultural Empowerment Center located in the credit union’s west branch at 3755 South Mission Road.  The Multicultural Empowerment Center will provide financial education and career development tools to anyone in the community.

This is the credit union’s commitment to helping people in two significant ways: to improve their financial wellbeing and to learn or revisit job-search tools that will enhance their marketability,” said Susan Stansberry, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tucson Federal Credit Union.

The group classes and one-on-one sessions will be facilitated by TFCU experts in career development and financial education.  The initial phase of sessions and classes will be offered in English and Spanish. The long-term goal is to offer instruction in multiple languages, and in formats to include webinars and videos. Another feature of the center is that it is equipped with a safe and engaging Kid’s Corner where parents can monitor their children at play while participating in one-on-one sessions or group classes.

Established to support the credit union’s mission of service, education, and access, the Multicultural Empowerment Center is a win-win partnership because both for-and non-profit businesses can refer not only clients but also employees to the center.

There are so many social issues that can block the overall success of people in our community. Our vision is to provide a resource hub that complements the work that our community partners are doing so that together, we can all contribute to the economic prosperity of people in Tucson,” said Ms. Stansberry.

TFCU was founded in 1937 as Tucson Teachers Federal Credit Union. TFCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in Pima County. Today, TFCU has grown to more than 68,000 members and has six locations in Tucson and Sahuarita. TFCU’s success comes from members, a dedicated member-elected board of directors, and a talented staff who is committed to creating an exceptional experience. TFCU, we are a Brand with a purpose. Connecting and Transforming our community through passionate giving.
